Gerra Verzasca, which has splendid chestnut woods all round it, boasts a striking landmark in the form of its bell tower, which is built on somewhat higher ground and seems to dominate the whole village. The first known church was buried in a landslide in around 1500, whereas the second one was swept away when the River Verzasca flooded in August 1817.
Particularly noteworthy are the parish church in Gerra Piano, which was built by the architect Cavadini, and the wine press in Agarone, which was first constructed by the local people in 1671 and renovated in 1965.
Cugnasco is made up of the settlements of Medoscio, Monti di Curogna, Monti di Ditto and Monti della Gana as well as a zone known as "la Monda" stretching beyond the river.
These are important departure points for picturesque and stimulating mountain walks, such as the one up the Sassariente Mountain.
