This is an easy and fairly flat walk. It is rather long tough, and it is possible to do it in stages. Various road bridges and footbridges lead to the nearby villages, where there are post-bus stops, from which visitors can conveniently return to Tenero. A number of wooden shelters have been constructed along the trail, where you can stop for a picnic or a barbeque. Please remember to take all your litter back with you and to leave the valley clean and tidy.
Several side valleys lead off from the River Verzasca on both sides. From there, there are climbs up the mountains, and the peaks rise to towering summits higher than 2000 metres.
The actual Sentierone trail takes you as far as Sonogno, where there are some remarkable chestnut, beech and hazelnut trees. The valley divides into the Vogornesso Valley on the right (north) and the Redorta Valley on the left (west), each with its own characteristic vegetation. It is well worth walking a few kilometres up either or both of these valleys.
Sonogno houses the valley's museum (Museo della Valle) and a wool centre (Casa della Lana).
